|Last August both myself, my assistant Jody Ford and "Holly",
our four legged Team Leader for our "Paws and Effects" therapy dog
program for veterans visited with Chuck and Linda at the Goodwill
Mennonite Home, in Grantsville, MD where Chuck was receiving medical
care from traumatic head wounds, and traumatic amputations he
received in 1970 as a Platoon Commander with the 1st Marine
Division, 1st Recon Delta Co., while serving in Vietnam. Both Holly
and Chuck hit it off from the moment they met, and we had a
wonderful time catching with them since I had visited last. Though
we did not know it then, it would be the last time that we would
have time to spend with Chuck. Early Saturday morning, while in
North Carolina for the "Carolina's Mission District 2014
Convocation", I received a call from Chuck's wife Linda who told me
of Chuck's passing the afternoon before.
Today, I would like to ask you to join us as we extend our deepest prayers for God's comfort and peace for Linda Overton faithful wife of our departed brother 1LT (Ret.) "Chuck" Overton, and also to his remaining family members through their time of grieving. We have been blessed to know and serve Chuck and Linda during the past six years, and are confident that by God's grace that we will meet again.
